This is a courtyard garden set in any British or Irish city. It is hidden from it‘s surroundings, yet the design is a response to the gardens urban setting. Hard landscape elements are borrowed from surrounding buildings with a planting scheme that softens the gardens formality.
We walk by hidden gems every day without being aware of them. There are also many hidden spaces that we may not realise the potential of. This garden could be one of those hidden gems, or it could be ideal for a small neglected space.
This garden is a comma in our lives. It is a place to retreat from the city surrounding it. Those lucky enough to have found it can sit and have a coffee or read a newspaper.
